Stitch Fix July 2015 (Fix No. 6):
What I asked for:
In this fix, I told my stylist that I would be going on vacation. I also asked for a rope necklace and a cuff (in either leather or silver):
I was so grateful to receive my Fix because I was going on vacation and wanted to make sure I had it before I left!
What I Received
Because this is a terrible picture (as are all the ones in the post – sorry!), here’s the text: “Hi Rebecca, Happy vacation time. I am so excited for you! I chose some fun pieces to take with you on your getaway. I looked through your Pinterest board and saw a fun white dress and I had to find one that was perfect for you. You can try it with this INER kimono for a fun summery look. I also chose this beautiful layered rope necklace that will look stunning against the white dress. Have fun and safe travels my friend. – Best, Kimberly J.”
Here’s what was in my fix:
I love white dresses for summer. Even if they are difficult to keep clean, this is what I want to wear in warm weather. Note: Stitch Fix recently posted a cute video on five ways to style a white dress.
I really, really wanted to keep this, but I had just purchased this dress from Nordstrom and couldn’t justify both. (If it was machine washable, I could have talked myself into buying it, but it’s dry clean only).
If you like it: This dress by Ivy + Blu is similar, but the neckline is different. (BTW, when you google “Ivy and Blu,” you get pictures of Beyonce’s child.)
This cuff was great. I liked the design but, more importantly, I liked the size. I have very small wrists, so it’s difficult to find cuffs that don’t constantly move around on my wrist. This one was tiny and, in fact, was a little difficult to put on. (Don’t request this if you have large wrists!).
If you like it: This style is similar, but it doesn’t appear that the designer sells this cuff on her website.
Here’s a close up:Kimonos are clearly a big trend this summer. When I first pulled this out of the box, I didn’t think I’d like it all that much. I’m not really into florals and I thought the fact that it was short-sleeves would bother me. I loved it when I tried it on, however. I’m always cold in the AC, so this will be a nice piece to layer over my summer clothes to help keep me a bit warmer. Since it’s so light, I can easily keep it in my purse. I also love that it’s only $38. It’s a great way to be trendy without spending a lot of money.
Care Instructions This is a hand wash/hang or line dry item.
If you like it: There are a lot of lovely options right there for similar tops. This one and this one are both floral versions. I also love this one, although it’s quite different from the one I received!
And here’s the back:
This top is cute, but did not fit me. It was way too tight in the bust and the fabric didn’t give at all. The back of this top is awesome, however, with amazing beadwork:
If this is a cut that would work for you, I think this is a good value for the price!
Care Instructions: Dry Clean Only.
If you like it: I couldn’t find this exact top online, but this one by Rory Beca comes close. It’s also $52.08, marked down from $210!
I’ve already packed this in my suitcase to take with me on vacation.
If you like it: This same necklace was sold on zulily. It’s sold out right now, but you can request to be notified if it comes back in stock. If you can’t wait, this necklace on Etsy has a similar feel.
This is the most items I’ve ever kept in a fix, so I call this a win! I almost kept four and, if I had, it would have been cheaper to keep all 5, with the 25% discount. I’m also impressed with Kimberly’s picks and her attention to my Pinterest board.
