QVC Special Edition
June must be a special month, as I will be receiving TWO special edition boxes, in addition to my regular monthly box. The QVC version cost $100 and was only sold through QVC’s website. According to the website, there were only 3000 of these, so it sold out pretty quickly!
Unlike the other boxes, the QVC one shipped immediately after purchase. I’ve never purchased anything from QVC and had no idea what to expect. Here’s what it looked like upon opening:

GlamGlow YouthMud Mask
Apparently, this mask will “transform your skin from dull to WOW.” Sounds great, but I don’t know how often I will use this. My entire skin care regimen is from Renee Rouleau. She recommends products based on skin types and the products are designed to work together. I first started using her product line after reading about how mixing certain products can cancel out their effect. (Although the first time I heard of her line was after this infamous Cat Marnell article.)
I tried out the mask though, just to see. I definitely felt it tingle and I left it on for a little over ten minutes. Because it promises immediate results, I expected to see some difference in my skin, but I did not. I generally don’t see much of a difference on my skin with the use of masks, however, except from facials. Maybe I just need the stronger stuff?
DryBar Triple Sec 3-in-1
I’ve recently amassed a large quantity of hair products. Besides the Batiste dry shampoo from May’s PopSugar Must Have box, I recently purchased this and this. I am therefore not in the market for anything new. I’ll probably save this product for when I run out of the others.
Halo Faux-Leather Wrapped Charger
This device allows you to power your phone on-the-go. I am notorious for allowing my phone battery to die, so I was glad to see this in the box. The cord it comes with doesn’t work for the iPhone, but I just switched it out for one of the iPhone compatible USB cords I already have. Now I just have to remember to keep the charger charged…
Hampton Candy Sampler
I’m not going to lie. I’m totally eating the candy as I write this (specifically, the red licorice). It’s not even that good, but that won’t stop me. This is why I don’t keep candy in the house. If you’re in the market for candy samplers, however, I recommend Sugarfina. I can’t be the only one who wants to order everything from them!
Lashes To Die For Mascara by Peter Thomas Roth
I was genetically blessed with super long, thick eyelashes. I therefore don’t wear mascara that often, although I always think I look better when I do. Because it’s not part of my daily routine, I generally just wait to receive mascaras as samples rather than buying them on my own. I’ve just run out of my last one, so I’m glad this mascara was in the box! It’s also nice to have a full size product.
Scout Aviator Sunglasses by Foster Grant
These sunglasses feel really cheap to me. (When I said this to my husband, he responded: “They sound cheap.” They make a rattling noise.) I actually like how these look on me, however, so I’ll plan to leave them in my beach bag at my bay house so I’ll always have a pair handy. They can be my “take on a boat” sunglasses so that it doesn’t matter if I lose them.
P.S. My husband was also appalled to learn about subscription boxes. He said: “So you pay for something that comes with items you don’t want and you can’t return them??”
Hoop Earrings by Steel by Design
I think Steel by Design may be a QVC brand. I hate gold jewelry and I hate hoop earrings, so I wasn’t a fan of these. Plus, they feel pretty cheap. I typically purchase my jewelry from Etsy. That way, I’ll get quality handmade pieces for the same price as mass-produced cheap pieces. Oh well, I’ll give these earrings to a friend.
Compact Styler by Tangle Teezer
This brush is made to get out tangles. As someone with thick, but fine hair, my hair gets tangled if I even think about wind. I have to use leave-in conditioner and a detangling brush (love this one) for about ten minutes to comb out the tangles I get just from shampooing. I tried it on my hair and was pleasantly surprised that it actually worked better than most brushes to remove tangles. The real test will be to try it on my daughter’s hair…
This box was only so-so for me. Better than the CFDA version, but it’s not worth $100 to me. I should get my Summer 2015 Must Have box soon, so I’m hoping that one is better!
