If you, too, are an online shopping addict, you constantly have packages delivered to your house. Sometimes it’s difficult to keep track of what is supposed to come and when, particularly when stores send out your order in multiple shipments. (BTW – I wish every store would have a “send my order in as few packages as possible, please!” box to check.) Because I live in a city, it is particularly important that I track my packages, so I know if anything has been stolen from my porch. (Luckily, this has only happened twice. Although I supposed having a large dog who barks whenever someone approaches the house helps.)
That’s why I love Slice. Slice is a free (!) app that uses your email to track your purchases. The app gives you an estimate of when each item is supposed to arrive and provides a link to the order email and the shipping email. Perhaps the best feature (for me, anyway) is that it sends you an alert when your package has been delivered. You get this alert right after your package has been dropped off at your door And I do mean right after. There have been times that I’ve met Ricardo (my lovely UPS guy – yes, we’re on a first name basis) at the door and by the time I get to my kitchen to set the box down, Slice has informed me that my package has arrived.
You can even use the app to track packages you’ve sent to other people. If you are ordering a wedding gift, for example, Slice will let you know when it’s been delivered. No more wondering if the person received it. (If only there was an app to write thank you notes.)
The only criticisms I have of Slice so far is that it doesn’t do a great job at tracking packages sent from overseas and it sometimes mistakenly identifies services (such as Uber) as orders that need to be tracked. Other than that, I love this app! If you ever shop online, this is a must-have product.
