ShopStyle has changed the way that I shop. Truly. I used to visit several websites on a fairly regular basis to peruse the new products and find out what was on sale. Although I am an online shopping addict, I also love a good sale, so would comparison shop when I found something that I wanted to purchase (often by googling the product name). As you can expect, this was a time-consuming process and I sometimes would just give in and purchase something that I thought was a good price, only to discover that I could have bought it cheaper somewhere else.
Enter ShopStyle. ShopStyle is a website and a (free!) app that allows me to search all of my favorite websites (Anthropologie, Nordstrom, Saks, ASOS, and even brand websites like Kate Spade) all in one place. You can “favorite” an item to keep track of it. Most importantly, however, you can create sale alerts. You can set up an alert for a particular item (although if you do so, be warned that you are only setting up an alert for that item from that store. If it goes on sale at another store, you won’t be alerted). You can also set up broader alerts, such as “all dresses from Kate Spade” or (my personal favorite) “all Lanvin flats.” When an item goes on sale, you’ll get an email and/or an alert sent to your iPad or iPhone.
Because you can search many different stores at the same time, it’s also useful if you love a certain brand (say, Diane von Furstenberg) and want to see all the dresses in your size that are available to purchase right now. You may find the perfect wrap dress listed on a store you’ve never heard of and wouldn’t have discovered on your own.
The only downside to ShopStyle, in my opinion, is that the sale alerts seem to be a little behind. This means that you might not be alerted right when an item goes on sale and by the time you see it, it may be sold out in your size. I still find this an extremely fun and useful tool.
If you’re an online shopping addict, you should definitely download this app today!
